We undertook this survey to provide insights on realism of the concept of “Independent Director”, how “independent” the Independent Directors indeed are; determine the challenges to independence and the impact Independent Directors have on board effectiveness and corporate performance. We hope that the result of this research will be a useful reference and contribute to available literature on the subject.
