President Muhammadu Buhari recently announced the extension of the Visa on Arrival (VOA) scheme to citizens of all African countries. By this announcement, persons holding passports of other African countries would be able arrive Nigeria without first obtaining a visa at the Nigerian embassy in their home or country of residence. Delivering a speech at the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the President noted that Nigeria has taken the strategic initiative to bring down barriers that had hitherto hindered the free movement of people within the continent by introducing the issuance of visa at the point of entry into Nigeria to all persons holding passports of African Countries with effect from January 2020.
